Our Story

Our roots are strong and deep. They go back to 1925 when Joe Rossi began producing lumber, railroad ties, and firewood for the central Connecticut marketplace. Today, nearly a century later, we’ve become one of the leading global producers of Appalachian hardwoods, including what many consider the finest cherry production anywhere.

The Mills

We have extensive sorting, milling and drying capabilities in Emporium, Pennsylvania and Scotland, Connecticut. Both locations have unlimited access to one hundred thousand acres of the finest hardwood forests in America.

Rebuild

But our story was not written without some significant challenges. In the winter of 2016, in one horrifying night, our Emporium mill burnt to the ground. But with heartbreak comes renewal. Eighteen months later, on the charred footprint of our old plant, now stands one of the finest, state-of-the-art milling and drying facilities in the world, once again delivering on the most demanding global needs of our hardwood customers. We are off and running, with great anticipation, to our next 100 years!
